The 4-star campsite de la Corniche offers you to stay in the privileged setting of the Basque Corniche, a protected natural area along the Atlantic coast from Ciboure to Hendaye.
300 metres from your holiday rental or your pitch awaits you one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the ocean of the entire Atlantic coast. The coastal path runs along the coastline, offering you beautiful perspectives for walks and hikes facing the sea.
At the foot of the Pyrenees, unique landscapes of cliffs and creeks are to be admired. At less than 800 metres, the Maison de la Corniche is the ideal place to discover the particularities of this protected area and to better understand the formation of the rocky coast.
A little further on, at 1800 metres, less than 10 minutes by bike, the Abbadia castle-observatory is a unique site not to be missed. The picturesque building, designed by Viollet-le-Duc for the traveller and scholar Antoine d’Abbadie, overlooks the ocean on the cornice and offers a sublime view from its park and from its various rooms.
Several times elected most beautiful beach of the Basque coast, the beach of Hendaye is also the largest, with its 3 kilometers of fine sand.
The campsite La Corniche invites you to a stay by the sea near this beach, which is classified as one of the most beautiful in the country by travellers. Less than 3 kilometres are to be travelled on the Basque coast road to reach the sandy Atlantic coast.
You can easily make the journey without a vehicle, during a bicycle ride of just over 10 minutes or during a pleasant half-hour walk along the coastal path. On the beach, you can stretch out your towel in front of the rocks of the Twin Towers and the Spanish coast.
The beach of Hendaye offers even more than its sublime landscape: with its 400 metres wide at low tide, it lends itself to a wide variety of games: sand sculptures, beach volleyball, kite flying, but also initiation to yoga or zumba sessions in the open air.
Its bathing water, saluted for its sanitary quality, offers a pleasant temperature of 23° in summer. Next to the first-aid post of Les Deux Jumeaux there is an access for people with reduced mobility, shelters against the sun, and several Tiralo armchairs available free of charge.
The beach of Hendaye is also popular for surfing, and particularly for holidaymakers who are discovering surfing sports: often compared to a “green slope”, it offers easy waves, which allow beginners to discover good sensations without danger.
Learning to surf here is a pleasure. By staying at the Corniche campsite, a few minutes from the beach of Hendaye, you can contact the different surfing schools present on the site to make a discovery session or to register for a complete course.
On the beach of Hendaye, Surfing can be practiced in family : children, even young, can take their first lessons or try their first slides. Toilets, showers and changing rooms are available on the Beach of the Two Twins.
For everyone’s safety, the bathing areas and the surfing evolution areas are well delineated. The bathing areas are located east and west of the beach at the monitoring stations. Between the two posts, in the middle of the sand area, is the surf area. The ideal place for everyone to go about their favourite beach day activities!
